Webinar: Community participatory approaches in migration research: A special focus on photovoice

Together with the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) of the University of Bern we present the next in their research meeting webinar series. The following research meeting will be led by Prof. Ozge Karadag.

Description of the webinar-meeting: Community participation is defined as involvement of individuals/communities in planning, implementation and evaluation of health policies, practices, and research. It is critical to include populations with vulnerabilities in health research and practice, because they can identify solutions, help ensure compliance, and tailor responses to meet the diverse needs of disadvantaged populations such as refugees and migrants. Community-based participatory action research (CBPAR) approach aims to combine knowledge with action, advocate and achieve social change and to decrease inequalities. Photovoice, as a CBPAR method, enables people to record and reflect their experiences through group discussion of photographs, and to reach policy makers for changing policies and programs.
